Fringe Fridays: Stop-Motion Strangeness

Today’s Fringe Fridays brings us to a dark and dusty room through the medium of stop-motion animation. The animator definitely owes a debt to such stalwarts as Jan Svankmajer and the Brothers Quay, but he brings something new to genre through his use of television clips. It’s a painstaking process, one that instills the movie with an unsettling atmosphere.

Fringe Fridays: Musical Wolves

One of my favorite stories as a kid was ‘Peter and the Wolf.’ I had one of those tape-and-book sets of Prokofiev’s masterpiece that I would listen to, and read, over and over again. Twenty-plus years later, I’m pretty excited to catch these sneak-preview/making-of videos for a stop-motion version of the story set to premiere in March, on PBS. It looks marvelous:
