This is a big week for networks on Yahoo! Video. Today we proudly add AniBoom to our cornucopia of awesomeness. AniBoom is a super-star animation site that’s bringing its content to Yahoo! Video. The network is nicely divided up into five playlists to zero in on your particular tastes. Fans of Radiohead should go directly to the Music Videos playlist to check out the ‘In Rainbows’ fan videos. They are amazing!
Here’s a little sampling of what you’ll find in their funny animation playlist:
If the the trailer for the new Terminator film is any indication, robots are still going to take over the earth (WallE’s robot propaganda not withstanding). Still, if it’s going to happen, I hope this guy is my robot overlord:
I’m very pleased to announce three new networks on Yahoo! Video: Ultra Kawaii, Channel Frederator, and Barely Political. The shows in these networks are produced by our good friends Next New Networks, the brain-child of Fred Seibert, the man who helped launch MTV back in the 80s (back when it played music videos, back when it was cool). Now he’s helping to reinvent video on the web with well-produced pop-culture video packages. Ultra Kawaii is a weekly compendium of cute, Channel Frederator brings you the best in animation, while Barely Political is a dose of political satire 2.0. These networks, like all of our networks, allow you to watch video in a beautiful, continuous-play experience—no need to click another video, there’s another serving coming right up.
There’s nothing that Fringe Fridays loves more than welcoming a new creator to the Yahoo! Video community. Today we are proud to introduce the multi-talented Patrick Boivin. You probably saw his Mandalorian Dance on Yahoo! Video. Patrick works with every conceivable form of video making. And apparently he’s self-taught.
While all his work deserves to be watched, take a look at the two videos below. As you watch Paranoland, see if you can guess what techniques he used to make it. The next video, the Making of Paranoland, will tell you if you were right.
Is Michel Gondry working for Ford’s marketing department? I’m not sure, but it certainly looks like someone inspired by his animated cardboard madness is. The commercials are nutty and beautiful and totally worth watching.
