Ever wonder what it’s like working at Yahoo! Video? Well a group of us decided to create some videos to answer this question. Check out the true effects of repeated viral video viewing in the workplace. No, it’s not pretty:
Sometimes, the workplace is the best place to cut off your thick mane of hair, especially when you do it to the Ronettes with co-workers as background singers.
Tomorrow is April 15th. In the United States that means it’s the last day to file your taxes. Here to remind you is animation favorite Channel Frederator, which recently held a contest asking animators to make short tax day films. The results are pretty good, and they may help make tax day a little less taxing.
Zune Arts is putting out some pretty amazing stuff. Zune Arts is Microsoft’s campaign to out-artsy Apple in the music player wars. I’m not sure if it’s helping sell any more of the plastic players, but it is helping some pretty creative folks to collaborate and get their work out there. Here’s the latest, a puppet-powered take on Michael Jackson’s Thriller:
For 12 years now, the Webby Awards have honored the best and brightest in the world of the web. The focus began with websites but now encompasses all facets of the Internets including, of course, video:
If the Web 2.0 revolution has shown us anything, it’s that the Internet is a proven star-making invention. While Hollywood still produces it’s fair share of blockbusters, the Internet is an increasingly reliable source of quality online content. All of the Online Film & Video Winners, Nominees and Honorees have premiered their work online and are one step closer to stardom.
We’re happy to see that several Yahoo! Video creators have been nominated for awards. So, head on over to webbyawards.com and register to vote for your favorites. Here’s the list of ‘local’ nominees:
In an effort to bolster its news offerings, Yahoo! Video announced that it has added the Onion News Network to its list of news providers. Long recognized for its journalistic excellence, the Onion News Network is known for breaking such stories as Diebold’s accidental leak of the 2008 election results and China’s celebration of its status as the world’s number one polluter. This move by Yahoo! is being seen as an important step forward in its online news strategy. A recent poll reported that journalistic integrity is seen as increasingly important by 5% of the American population. The poll was conducted at a Newbury, Conneticut shopping mall and has a margin of error of +/- five percent.
No one at Yahoo! Video could be reached for comment, but a woman trying to find the modeling agency located adjacent to Yahoo!’s San Francisco office expressed her enthusiasm, noting that, “in today’s media-saturated world, where we’re constantly bombarded by the uninformed opinions of people who are not actually associated with a particular story, but who carry on in chains of increasingly complex adjectival clauses to make themselves sound important and knowledgeable, it’s probably great.”
The Onion News Network is frequently seen as one of America’s most trusted news sources, ranking just below Fox News and Valleywag. With distribution of its breaking news reports on Yahoo! Video, ONN hopes that they can eclipse their rivals as the go-to source for credible and accurate news reporting.
“Look, on April 1st you had a situation where thousands of people went to web sites like Gawker and Fark expecting news, and instead they were Rick Rolled,” said an anonymous source close to the news desk. “Is this what the American people deserve?”
