Yahoo! Video Awards: Best Animated Video
TGIFF: Thank goodness it’s Fringe Fridays, our weekly look at the best in animation and experimental video. It’s also the final day of nominations for the Yahoo! Video Awards. First, we’re going to look at the nominees for Best Animated Video. Some of the best animators on the planet upload to Yahoo! Video, making the task of narrowing down the nominee list rather excruciating. But here are six videos representing the diversity of animation, from CGI, to stop motion, to time lapse, and everything in between.

Weird Al seems to have a heavy lead. But really I wish things like this would let you rank them from favorite to least. Just from subject popularity the other films don’t have much of a chance.
All of these are great but from an animation stand point Windows Masks Doors seems best to me. Copying and pasting the titles best to worse IMO.
Windows Masks Doors, Internet People!, Weird Al’s Childhood, Typographics, Ready-Set-Bumbo, Zombies in Plain English. Still images being placed around well it’s done in a fun way but I don’t really see it as animated.
I hope in the end they show the runners up because I doubt anything will be on purely artistic merit this time.

Bumbo folks aren’t cheating, they simply emailed people who came to their site and gave them props on their videos. They are just as creative as the artists that made animation videos. I think maybe the ones criticizing them are anti-cute instead.
